We were a bit hesitant to bring this classic It's Unboxed episode to light, but it nonetheless remains among the top performing unboxing videos we filmed. You'll see our mistake as we discuss the product we unbox.

And my, how things have changed.

Back in the day, Matt had to buy DVDs in order to watch movies at home. Physical media! But now, it's all about movies served up over the Internet by the likes of Netflix Instant, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus. So to catch up with the times, we got our hands on a Roku LT.

After destroying another pair of shoes in the Denver snow, Matt decides to buy some cheap, rugged all-weather slip ons from Land's End. Let's see if what's inside this box is utilitarian enough to make it through a Colorado winter.

In honor of the Queen of Southern Cuisine (or is that the Queen of Deep-Fried Cuisine?), the peerless Ms. Paula Deen, who recently came out with the unfortunate news that she, like many Americans suffers Type 2 diabetes, we here at It's Unboxed have reached into our most recent archives for this gem of a crispy unboxing video. Because if it ain't fried, it ain't right. Or something like that.

For the sake of all foods greasy, the It's Unboxed brain trust made a decision. That decision was to buy a deep fryer and see what it can do. But before we could deep fry everything, obviously, we have to unbox everything. That brings us back to the above video.

Wallets can be a right pain in the, um, backside. That's why Matt decided to go for something completely different when searching for his next ID/credit card/cash receptacle.

Enter the The Jimi, a compact, translucent and water resistant take on a common piece of personal organization that, frankly, needed a good redesign. Made of 100 percent recycled materials and with some of the proceeds going to help the environment, the JimiX seemed like a reasonable risk to take at a cost of $15.95. Among 2008's hottest holiday gifts is this, Nintendo's Wii Fit, the video game that is not a video game, but rather a fitness program disguised as a game.

Sure, Xbox now has Kinect and Sony has that strange ice cream cone controller thingy called, of all things, "Move." But it was Nintendo that really revolutionized the idea of full-body motion gaming that challenged players to get out of their seats. The balance board included with Wii Fit was yet another step in that direction.

Bringing Back the Unboxing

It's Unboxed used to be a self-hosted WordPress blog. Then, while the site was on hiatus between hosting services, there was a minor disaster: A hard drive was lost (and the computer it belonged to died). That was the unintended end of It's Unboxed as a self-hosted WordPress blog.

Now, don't go calling this a comeback, but, well, It's Unboxed is coming back! Sort of.

For now, we plan to deploy all the old videos we recorded between 2008 and 2011 on this, the new It's Unboxed (thanks, Blogger). From there, who knows. More self-produced and poorly edited unboxing videos, perhaps?
